Extended Validation (EV) SSL Certificates
Advanced Features, Renowned Trust Indicators, and Premium Encryption
In the world of SSL/TLS, EV certificates are the gold standard, or maybeeee we can call it the "green" standard. This complete SSL solution not only encrypts your website, safely protecting user information from prying eyes, but it also comes with a variety of extra premium features that have proven to boost trust & clearly demonstrate that you're in fact someone safe to do business with. The main way EV certs do this is by way of the green address bar!
Not just anyone can obtain an EV certificate that activates this globally trusted & recognized green bar (especially no malicious or fake site), because the issuing Certificate Authority (CA) has to first complete a thorough validation process to verify & ensure you're actually a legitimate business. So, if you're a real business and you're looking to maximize trust, boost conversion and align yourself alongside the big shots of the Internet – ya' know, the companies that people already know and trust – then EV is the only way to go since you're trying to win online.

Add eye-catching trust indicators
Since you have a real business, you deserve to be able to show everyone that you're a legitimate organization, especially in this day-and-age of ridiculous phishing schemes & hacks every other day, right? That's where activating these key "trust" indicators come into play. When you receive an EV SSL, your web address will not only read HTTPS instead of the standard HTTP, it will also have a clickable padlock next to the URL that contains crucial identifying information (business name & location) about your organization and it lists the trusted third-party security company that is vouching for you, and most importantly, the address bar will be an unmistakable shade of green to consciously and sub-consciously help people "GO!". That's right, EV certificates are the only SSL products that activate the green address bar in browsers. This green bar is the most universally recognized symbol of trust across the web. It's quite simple, when users trust, they convert. Green means go in every language!
Now with a simple glance, someone on your website will quickly know that you're safe to do business with, which is why EV certificates are considered an investment for your business because of its huge ROI potential upside, rather than a cost which is typical of the lower-end SSL solutions. With EV, you can add more trust and make more people convert!
Is EV right for you?
EV certificates can have a major impact on your online presence & overall perception. You'll not only make your site the most secure it can be, but you'll also be able to confidently assure any site visitor that they are safe to do business with you. In the highly-competitive online marketplace, this is incredibly valuable. All businesses where the website is an integral part of their business' success, an EV SSL is a no-brainer. If you can convert just one more person, it may pay for itself!
WHY SHOULD YOU CONSIDER EV SSL?
- Shows that you put your users' safety & concern first
- Easily differentiates yourself from your competition
- Proven to increase visitors' confidence & boost conversion
- Aligns yourself with larger, more trusted companies already using EV

How do I get an EV SSL?
Since you're a real business and you're working with The SSL Store™, you're golden! The validation process is designed to stop fake companies, not real ones. If you are a registered business in your state or local government, obtaining an EV certificate is a breeze! Once you complete your EV SSL purchase, you'll then be guided down the validation process where the CA will simply need to verify a few things about your business. The best way to expedite this process is to make sure you use the CORRECT spelling of your company name...oh and make sure to include your corporate identifiers such as, LLC or , Inc. exactly as it was when you registered your business...commas and everything! Also, make sure to list your main phone number that could be found in most public databases. If you can do that, you'll be well on your way. If you have any issues, we have many validation experts standing by that can help you with any part of the process. In many cases, we have gotten EVs issued in the same day.
- Business Registration – our company must be officially registered with your government.
- Operational Existence – the Certificate Authority (CA) will look to verify that your organization has existed for more than 3 years. If your organization has not been in existence for more than 3 years, additional proof of operational status will be required, such as:
- Dun & Bradstreet listing
- Professional/Legal Option Letter (POL)
- Or a simple Bank confirmation letter
- Address Authentication – the registered organization must have a verifiable physical address and business presence in their respective country/state.
- Telephone Verification – the Certificate Authority (CA) must pull an active telephone number from an acceptable telephone directory in order to complete a verification call with the company (The most popular directories include YellowPages, Hoovers, Scoot.co.uk, Dun and Bradstreet, BBB.org – but other regional telephone directories or industry directories are also acceptable).
